Judson Mantz is one of my favorite singer/songwriters. Not just local singer/songwriters, I'm including all singer songwriters. He's a bright, deep, articulate, feeling individual, and an impressive artist. He's generous, too! He has offered some of his songs as free downloads, and has allowed Moonstock to offer some of the free songs to you in the list below.
Jud's music is the culmination of more than 30 years of creation. It spans solo work and his work with bands including 3-D Betty, Remnants of Betty, August Room, and now Area 38. He has appeared at Moonstock for many years, with both August Room and Remnants of Betty and this year, we'll be hearing from Area 38. They are hosting a CD release party at Pine Grove Hall on Friday June 28, at 7:00, and I am really looking forward to that event. My expectations are high, as I loved the music, the lyrics, and the production values August Room's "Raucous Polyglot" and Jus may have even more time for his music now that he has retired. Here's how they describe Area 38...
"Area 38 is a dynamic five-piece band that showcases a rich selection of all-original music, combining elements of fun, funk, and introspective themes. Their sound is characterized by catchy melodies and engaging rhythms that invite listeners to both dance and think.
The band members are:
Ed Kenepp - lead vocals and guitar
Judson Mantz - lead vocals and guitar
Joyce Furfaro - keys and vocals
Lynn Chaplin - bass guitar
John Lynch - drums"
